Why Did My Pronto Insurance Go Up?
Pronto's Texas car insurance program is filed by Redpoint County Mutual. Its rate filings rose from 2022 to mid-2025, then turned to small decreases.
If your Pronto car insurance went up in Texas, the records point to a run of rate increases for the Pronto program filed by Redpoint County Mutual Insurance Company, the insurer behind Pronto's Texas personal auto policy: nine filings with increases were received from May 2022 through June 2025, the largest a 16.6% increase received January 29, 2024 1. Since then the filings have been decreases or no change, including a 2.9% decrease that reached renewals from January 14, 2026 1.
Pronto Insurance is an agency brand, not the company that files rates. Its storefronts sell the policy; the insurer named on your declarations page sets the price through its filed rates. Each percentage on this page is an average for the program's existing policyholders, not a forecast for any one bill. This page lays out what the Texas records show and how to check your own policy. We are not affiliated with the insurers named.
What Pronto Insurance actually is
The Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) licenses Pronto General Agency, Inc., of Brownsville, as a managing general agency for property and casualty insurance and as a general lines agency 3. Pronto's website carries the Pronto General Agency name in its footer and says it has over 200 locations 10. When Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. completed its purchase of Pronto in June 2018, it described Pronto as a Brownsville-based managing general agency, broker and claims administrator whose main business was placing personal auto insurance in Texas, California and Florida, through Pronto-owned agencies, franchise agents, independent agents and online sales 6.
TDI's appointment data shows how many insurers stand behind the agency. As of our check, it lists 53 insurance companies that have appointed Pronto General Agency, Inc., 45 of them for property and casualty business 4. Redpoint County Mutual Insurance Company appears twice: with an appointment for property and casualty business and with an appointment as its managing general agent, active since October 1, 2015 4.
Which company files the Pronto rates
Pronto's own Texas policy page lists Redpoint County Mutual Insurance Company's personal auto policy form, effective January 1, 2024, as its current Texas form, and lists an older Concert Insurance Company form as no longer in effect as of December 2023 5. TDI's filing data matches: every Texas auto filing for a product named Pronto since 2021 was made by Redpoint County Mutual Insurance Company 1. TDI's 2025 Market Conditions report lists the same filings under the Incline Insurance Group LLC group, with descriptions such as "Pronto rate revision" and "Pronto fee update" 2.
Before 2021, the data shows Pronto-named products filed by other insurers, mainly National Unity Insurance Company from 2017 to 2020 and Concert Insurance Company from 2014 to 2017 1. If an old declarations page names one of those companies, its filings are the ones that applied at the time.
How county mutual programs work
Texas county mutual insurance companies often write business through managing general agents. A 2005 Texas Senate Research Center bill analysis put it this way: these agents "often have individual insurance programs that they market to consumers," more than one agent can write for the same county mutual, and the rates between them may vary 9. That is why the filings that matter for a Pronto customer are the ones Redpoint files for the Pronto program, not Redpoint's filings for other programs.

The most recent Pronto filing, "Pronto RR15 08/2026," received August 6, 2026, shows a 0.0% overall change 1. TDI says a blank or 0% means the filing changed only rules or other items that do not affect premium, or that the overall impact is zero 7.
TDI's 2025 Market Conditions report, which uses figures the companies report themselves and has not reconciled them to the filings TDI received, lists overall rate changes for the Pronto program of 14.6% for 2022, 32.4% for 2023 and 24.2% for 2024 2. In the same report, the April 2025 filing appears as a 5.0% "Pronto rate revision" and the September 2025 filing as a 2.9% decrease 2.
Read together, the table shows a series of increases with renewal effective dates from July 2022 to October 2025. Each one reached a policy at its first renewal on or after the renewal effective date, so a customer who renewed every six months could have absorbed several in a row 1 7.
Why the Pronto program's costs rose
The filing data and the Market Conditions report give percentages, dates and short descriptions, but not reasons 1 2. We did not find a public statement from Pronto or Redpoint County Mutual explaining these filings, so we do not guess at them. TDI says full filings and supporting documents can be viewed by searching the SERFF system with the SERFF ID 7, which the table lists for each filing.
Why your own Pronto bill may still have gone up
Recent filings are small decreases, but a renewal can still rise. TDI lists claims history, where you live and how much you drive, age, gender and marital status, occupation, the cost to replace your car and your credit score as factors in an auto premium 8. Common reasons:
- A different insurer. Pronto General Agency, Inc. is appointed by dozens of insurers in Texas 4. If your policy was placed with a company other than Redpoint County Mutual, the Pronto table above does not apply.
- A new accident, claim or ticket on any listed driver.
- A change in vehicles or drivers, such as adding a teen driver. See adding a teen driver.
- A move to a different ZIP code.
- A lost discount or a coverage change. See why discounts disappear at renewal.
- Fees. The June 2025 filing is described in TDI's report as a "Pronto fee update" with a 0.9% overall change 2.
- Timing. A decrease reaches a policy only at its next renewal on or after the renewal effective date 7.
What to do next
- Find the insurer's name on your declarations page. TDI notes the exact insurer name differs from the agency name and can be found on your policy, billing statement or through your agent 7.
- Compare the renewal with last term line by line. Our guide to reading a renewal notice shows where to look.
- Ask the Pronto office what changed on your policy: drivers, vehicles, coverages, discounts, fees or the insurer.
- Look up the filing. Search TDI's rate filing data by the insurer's name 7. Our explainer on what a rate filing is covers how to read one, and the Texas page explains how Texas rates are set and where to get help. Pronto also sells in other states 6; see the California page or browse all states.
- Compare quotes from several insurers. Prices for the same driver can differ widely. You can compare quotes here.
