About QuotePitStop

QuotePitStop explains why car insurance prices change and helps readers request quotes. Who we are, what we do and what we are not.

QuotePitStop is a website about car insurance prices: why they change, how insurers and regulators set them, and what a driver can check when a renewal bill goes up. Alongside the articles, readers can request car insurance quotes through our form.

What we are, and what we are not

QuotePitStop is a lead-generation service. When you ask for quotes through our form, we pass your request to insurance partners, and they pay us. We explain that arrangement in plain terms on our page about how we make money.

We are not an insurance company, an insurance agent or an insurance broker. We do not sell policies, we do not set prices, and we do not handle claims. We are not affiliated with the insurers named on this site; when an article names an insurer, it does so only to report facts such as a rate filing or a public statement. We do not recommend or rank insurers. Questions about a specific policy, bill or claim belong with your insurer or agent and with your state insurance department.

What we write

Our articles answer one question each, such as why a premium rose with no accident, what a rate filing is, or how to read a renewal notice. We work from primary sources wherever we can: state insurance department records and releases, rate filings, statutes, and federal statistics, with credible news and industry reports where the official record is thin. Every figure is cited and labeled; our methodology page explains how.

Who writes and reviews

Articles are written by Dana Whitfield (QuotePitStop Editorial) and reviewed for accuracy by Marcus Hale. Both are pen names used by our editorial staff, who research and fact-check rate filings and consumer insurance questions. They do not hold themselves out as licensed insurance professionals, and nothing on this site is a quote, an offer of coverage or legal advice.

Errors and contact

If you spot a mistake, tell us through the contact page. We fix confirmed errors and list them, with dates, on our corrections page.
