Corrections
How to report an error on QuotePitStop, how we check and fix it, and the dated list of corrections made to our articles.
We try to get every figure and every statement right, and we want to hear when we have not. This page explains how to report an error, what we do with a report, and lists the corrections we have made.
How to report an error
Use our contact page and include:
- the address of the page, or its title;
- the sentence or figure you think is wrong;
- a link to a source that shows the correct information, if you have one.
A link to an official record, such as a state insurance department release, a rate filing or a statute, helps us check the report quickly.
We cannot help with questions about a specific policy, bill or claim. Those belong with your insurer or agent and with your state insurance department.
What happens next
An editor checks the report against the cited source and, where needed, the original record. If the page is wrong, we fix it, update the page's sources and "About these figures" section as needed, and change the page's last updated date. If a figure turns out to be unsupported, we remove it rather than replace it with a guess.
If the page was right, we leave it as it is. We may still clarify wording if the report shows that a sentence was easy to misread.
How corrections are listed
Every correction that changes a fact, a figure or the meaning of a sentence is listed below with the date of the correction, the page it affects and a short description of what changed. Small fixes to spelling, grammar or formatting are made without a listing. Corrections stay on this page; we do not remove them later.
For how we choose and label sources in the first place, see our methodology.
